The Taptag is IOU Studio's exploration into merging functional hardware with seamless digital interaction. Utilizing Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, this device acts as a smart storage medium to transfer files (PDFs, documents, and images) instantly. From an industrial design perspective, the Tap Tag features a bold visual language: a geometric silhouette with precise chamfered edges and a highly portable form factor. The raised circle element in the center not only adds visual dimension but also provides a tactile cue as the designated tapping area for users.

DEFINE

Translating the familiar shape of paper file tabs into an intuitive, modern physical identity.

The form is an abstraction of a physical file folder, a universal icon for documents. This visualization details how the iconic asymmetrical tab from analog folders is extracted into precise line work, which is then seamlessly applied to the design of the final tag hardware sketches. The asymmetrical shape serves as the key identifying feature, while the central circular node functions as the primary interaction point for instant file transfer.
