A compact, modular vehicle designed to move people, goods, and opportunities through the city, adapting to the diverse needs of everyday urban mobility.
n Indonesia, mobile trading is part of everyday urban life. From traditional markets to informal street commerce, many traders rely on private vehicles to transport and sell their goods. To accommodate their needs, motorcycles are often modified with additional baskets or extensions. While these adaptations increase carrying capacity, they can also affect vehicle stability, dimensions, and everyday usability.

The exploration focused on compact proportions, fluid form, optimized cargo capacity, modular configurations, and have a visual identity, establishing the foundation for Velo as an adaptable vehicle platform
From research to design direction — exploring how form, function, and modularity can come together in a compact urban vehicle. Beyond benchmarking existing velomobiles and urban utility vehicles, the form exploration draws inspiration from the world around us. The fluid anatomy and agile movement of cats inform the exploration of organic proportions and body transitions, while curved architectural structures found in urban environments inspire the treatment of surfaces, volumes, and structural lines. These formal explorations are developed alongside studies of packaging, cargo capacity, and modular configurations, gradually shaping the visual language and functional foundation of Velomobile.
DESIGN
One Platform, Multiple Possibilities
Translating the defined design direction into a modular vehicle system, Velomobile is developed around a compact and purposeful architecture that balances rider integration, cargo capacity, and everyday usability. The enclosed body provides a protected and efficient space for carrying goods, while its modular structure allows the vehicle to adapt to different operational needs. From optimizing the available load capacity to exploring Cargo Mode and Open Cab configurations, the design transforms a single velomobile platform into a flexible solution for urban mobility.
DELIVER
Velomobile extends the role of a mobility vehicle beyond transportation by integrating the functions of cargo storage, product display, and direct customer interaction. Its modular rear compartment allows the vehicle to adapt to different types of mobile commerce, creating a practical platform for bringing goods directly into residential and urban communities.
By accommodating diverse cargo requirements within a compact vehicle platform, IOU Velo enables businesses and individuals to transport, deliver, and sell a wide range of goods within their communities. Its adaptable utility system supports multiple applications while maintaining a compact footprint designed for everyday urban environments.
